Diabetes Does Not Discriminate. (Not Even For Angelina.)

When I think of Angelina Jolie, I envisage glamour, rainbow family, Brad Pitt, Hollywood royalty, Oscar winner, fashion icon, Ambassador for the United Nations, and her controversial turn from a rebellious inked girl estranged from her father, to a women who contributes a third of her yearly fortune to charity.

Never did I associate her, who is the pinnacle of supremacy amongst the heterosexual male population, as owning a glucometer, and living with the knowledge that she has Gestational Diabetes.

Angelina

At the Screen Guild Awards this year, all eyes were on her swollen bump and maternal glow. And the fact that Brad Pitt was constantly caressing and whispering in her ear. Little did anyone know that Angelina could very well have had a glucometer in her designer clutch purse.

Rumour has it that she is carrying twins-I was unable to contact her rep to clarify that, (HA!) however she has announced her second pregnancy. She is consulting a nutritionalist, to assist her with what the best foods are best to consume whilst she deals with providing the best nutrients for her baby, as well as what will be least troublesome to her blood sugar levels.

. Women diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes are often inclined to gain more weight than during their other pregnancies, have elevated blood pressure, (which is potentially dangerous to both mother and baby without careful monitoring,) are more likely to have a larger baby, and face the possibility that once the baby is born, blood sugar levels will continue to cause havoc, not to mention unsightly  oedema, the medical term for fluid retention-which leaves one’s fingers looking like sausages, and ankles resembling a tree trunk.

It’s a question of the unknown, some women can safely piff their diabetes equipment as soon as they are discharged from hospital, others face continuing blood sugar problems, which in turn is treated as Type 2 Diabetes.

Hopefully, she can resume her pre-pregnancy lifestyle and enjoy her new addition(s), rather than deal with diabetes during such a  blessed time in a woman’s life.

Ange and Brad and bub and misbehaving blood sugar.

With a family of 5 children (or possibly 6 if the twin thing is fact true,) having to live with Type 2 Diabetes would be a very unwelcome burden.

However, it does prove that Diabetes will rear it’s ugly head at even the most desired and recognisable woman in the world.

This might be a bit off topic, but what is it that makes Angelina so desirable?

Okay, okay so being a gay man I may not be the most qualified person to comment (but then again I could be) however I find her slightly odd looking, dangerously thin with overpumped lips and a little bit too much forehead for my tastes.

That husband of hers on the the other hand…
